The successful candidates will be placed within the International Specialty operation which trades through Syndicate 1200 within Lloyd’s of London offering products within the Property, Liability, Marine & Energy, Aerospace and Specialty Space, Aviation and Personal Accident classes. The positions are available to undergraduate students who are interested in spending a year in industry as part of their degree.
Throughout the year you will gain experience in the Lloyd’s market and support teams in a number of disciplines. You will have real responsibilities and opportunities to work on projects that have an impact on the business. Your training will be provided on the job. ArgoGlobal has a history of favouring returning Placement Students in selection for our Graduate Programme or other entry level vacancies.

This role will require the successful candidate to work closely with ArgoGlobal’s reserving, pricing, capital and risk management actuaries. Day to day tasks may include collaborating with underwriters to develop pricing models; supporting the monthly reserving process; manipulating and enhancing reporting documents; and collating information for use in meetings and presentations.

The Successful Candidate
We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate the following:
A predicted 2.1 degree in any discipline in the UK or equivalent
Strong academic background
An analytical and creative approach towards problem solving
Strong core numerical skills
Fluency in English

General interest in the insurance market

Our Placement programme is very competitive and we do receive a high volume of quality applications so it is important that you answer the pre-screening questions accurately. This is your first opportunity to make a good impression.

At each stage of the interview process if you are successful, you will be invited to participate in the various stages of the selection process.
Stage 1 - Telephone Interview
Be engaging and enthusiastic and take your time answering the questions. Try and make sure your enthusiasm comes across over the phone because we are assessing more than just your skills and knowledge. We want to hire talented individuals who fit our vision for the future and have the potential to succeed, so be yourself and honest. Ask questions. The interview will last no more than 15 minutes and will focus on both competency and technical questions.
Stage 2 – Interview/Case Study
Be prepared. Take the time to research the company to gain an understanding of what we do, which will give you an insight into the tasks you will be required to carry out throughout the rotational programme. The interview will last no more than 30 minutes and will focus on both competency and technical questions. On the day you will be given a case study with sufficient time to prepare for your case study presentation.
