Placement Opportunities

We place great importance on attracting well educated entry-level talent. ArgoGlobal’s placement opportunities offer a few talented but as yet inexperienced candidates the chance to gain a year’s experience in a dynamic insurance company operating in the London Market.

The Role

The successful candidates will be placed within the International Specialty operation which trades through Syndicate 1200 within Lloyd’s of London offering products within the Property, Liability, Marine & Energy, and Specialty classes. The positions are available to undergraduate students who are interested in spending a year in industry as part of their degree.

Throughout the year you will gain experience in the Lloyd’s market and support teams in a number of disciplines. You will have real responsibilities and opportunities to work on projects that have an impact on the business. Your training will be provided on the job. ArgoGlobal has a history of favouring returning Placement Students in selection for our Graduate Programme or other entry level vacancies.

We currently offer placement opportunities in the following business areas:

           Actuarial

  • Develop and calibrate pricing models across the business
  • Build advanced applications to promote actuarial services
  • Support underwriters with risk selection
  • Analyse market trends to improve model predictability
  • Use newly developed statistical methods to provide insights that strengthen the company’s data analytics arm
  • Liaise with international offices to increase profitability
  • Analyse ArgoGlobal’s performance and prepare monthly management reports
  • Knowledge sharing across the business

The Successful Candidate

We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate the following:

  • A strong quantitative background in mathematics or natural sciences
  • A-level mathematics essential (A/A* grade preferred)
  • On track for a minimum 2:1 in a numerically/analytically focused degree. Preferred degree disciplines include: Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Economics, or similar
  • Advanced IT and programming skills(particularly Excel and R) are an advantage
  • Verbal and written fluency in English
  • Highly developed communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Highly developed numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to prioritise

We offer competitive rates of pay and the opportunity to work towards an introductory insurance qualification as part of the programme.
